Instead of making separate posts for every amazing catwalk show that's going on in the big apple this week, I decided to combine my thoughts on different shows in one post. There were so many beautiful things going on and I can't wait to see what the other designers and fashion weeks have to offer!
The venue of the Helmut Lang SS13 show was a large room without elevated catwalk, the models walked on a shiny, light coloured floor where light blue lamps appeared to be hanging from the ceiling.
The collection itself focussed on colours like peach, white, grey, vibrant red and blue, the fabrics looked silky and soft but there were also looks with sturdy and shiny fabrics that looked like plastic and leather. I'm not a huge fan of the wide-leg trousers (they wouldn't suit me personally) but I do love the tomboy and bomber jackets and dresses with colourful, geometric areas. I also loved the wide shorts with subtle flowery prints and those beautiful shoes!
The models' make-up was very neutral and simple with a bit of bronzer and loose, long hair combed to the side. That really seems to be the trend for next spring/summer!
I loved the venue of the Lacoste show, the models had to walk down a few minimalistic looking, white stairs, I can imagine that being difficult with those heels though. The show started with a small light show projected against the back wall of the catwalk, that definitely suited the looks and the music as well.
The collection consists of printed dresses with a straight cut, bomber jackets, parkas with hood and wide-leg trousers. I loved the looks with see-through parkas and the black and white print, although I'm not entirely sure what it represents yet. The collection focussed on colours like white, light grey, black, vibrant red, yellow and a beautiful light blue that will probably be my favourite colour of the season.
The make-up of the models was, just like the Helmut Lang show, very natural accentuated with a bit of bronzer and accompanied by loose, long hair combed to one side.
The SS13 show of DKNY was beyond amazing, I loved every second of it and it took my breath away. The venue was very original with the streets of New York and the famous yellow taxi's in the background and white marks along the side of the catwalk.
There is a lot going on in the collection but I believe that white is a key element. I especially loved the combination of white shirts or skirts with denim and white with metallic. The white jacket with straight cut is one of my favourites, I also love the cap with that look.
The pieces that I love most are the shoes, the boots look like snow or ski boots with a pointed toe and a stiletto heel, I love it! I saw two versions during the catwalk, black with a white sole and white with metallic details, I adore the first!
The make-up was very natural like in the other 2 shows that I saw with loose hair combed to one side. I love that, also because it's mainly what I look like on a daily basis, ain't that easy?
Diane Von Fürstenberg:
This was definitely one of my favourite venues for a catwalk show, the room itself was simple but there were hundreds of mirrors shaped as little birds hanging from the ceiling, it looked so lovely. The models walked onto the catwalk before a white wall with the Diane Von Fürstenberg logo on it.
If it depended on DVF, summer will be very colourful and a lot of fun. The collection consist of vibrant colours like turquoise, red, fuchsia, black, white and beige. I saw a lot of prints on jumpsuits, dresses over wide-leg trousers, printed tops with a straight cut and lovely shoes and accessories with metal balls attached to them. My favourite was the eyewear, the sunglasses and futuristic glasses looked absolutely spectacular.
The make-up of the models was, just like in the shows before, very natural with loose hair but this time not combed to the side, the eyes were accentuated a bit.
